Keep Moving Forward
This morning, while in prayer, I began talking to the Lord about the failures,
wrong decisions and sins of 2008 – and any other time for that matter. As I
began to cry, I felt His Spirit come upon me, soothing me. I heard His voice
saying, “Keep moving forward!”
What God showed me is that you or I can do nothing about the past, but learn
from it and try to make our present better by not making the same mistakes.
The consequences of sin and bad decisions are real. We have to accept the
consequences and pray God gives us grace and mercy to keep moving
forward. To continue moving forward, like King David and the Apostle Paul –
for example, is to trust in the Lord, put the past behind, and keep moving
forward in the right direction, praying for direction and walking in faith and
obedience.
When I asked God for forgiveness concerning my ‘wrong turns’ in 2008, He
spoke to me and said, “What 2008? 2008 is gone. Walk in faith and
obedience so that your 2009 will outshine every dark area of 2008. Keep
moving, my son. Keep moving toward Jesus. Don’t look back; keep moving
forward. I have forgiven your past and shall not remember it no more.”
Saints of God, if you have asked God for forgiveness of your sins,
disobedience and bad decisions, and He has forgiven you, don’t stay stuck in
the past; keep moving forward in the present. Don’t let the failures of 2008 or
any other year find their way into the New Year. Keep pressing toward the
Mark – Christ Jesus! Don’t keep beating yourself up over the past; instead,
through Christ, beat up on the Devil by continuing to move forward in Christ!
